An ICPSR Summer Program in Quantitative Methods Topical Workshop
Fundamentals and common pitfalls in regression analysis, whether you’re new to regression or looking for a refresher.
Goals:
- Learn OLS fundamentals: Build, interpret, and critique simple regression models.
- Diagnose common pitfalls: Spot and address issues like omitted variables, outliers, and heteroskedasticity.
- Gain practical R skills: Clean data, run models, and present results in clear, non-technical language.
Learning Outcomes:
- How to specify and interpret OLS regression models that align with a causal perspective.
- How to identify and address common data issues like outliers, heteroskedasticity, and omitted variables.
- How to clean and analyze datasets in R, from loading files to producing polished outputs.
- How to communicate results clearly, with visuals and language accessible to non-technical audiences.
